Post Office will remain open during coronavirus lockdown 2.0 in India
After lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak in India was extended from 15-April-2020 to 03-May-2020, Post Office will remain open for moving essential items. India Post will be available to public enabling healthcare facilities and equipments.
Prime Minister of India, Mr. Modi in his address to nation on 14-April-2020 had extended the lockdown till 03-May-2020 with no movement in hotspot areas and restricted movement in the safe zone areas. Mr. Modi in his address to nation also said that relaxation will be given to certain sectors that will enable reach of essentials to public when they are staying in their homes.
A detailed plan of opening up of the lockdown will be shared by Ministry of Home Affairs before 20-April-2020 after receiving inputs from various departments and observations on the spread of the coronavirus.
Post Office to remain open as decided by Ministry of Home Affairs during the lockdown 2.0 from 15-April-2020 to 03-May-2020.
Postal services has been defined under Public utilities which has remain open and functional from 20-April-2020. All Post Offices and India Post offices will be accepting Speed Post articles which includes essential items to be moved between cities and states.
Courier Services will also be operational for movement of e-commerce goods, and every essentials needed to keep the stocks available in every city and states.
